About tallge

tallge is a small independent site with tools and reference sheets for developers and system administrators.

The tools are plain HTML and JavaScript. Each one does its work inside the page you have open. There is nothing to sign up for and no paid tier. Each tool page explains what the tool does and where it tends to go wrong, because that is usually the part worth knowing.

The reference pages are written for looking things up mid-task. They are static, work without JavaScript and print on paper without the navigation. PDF copies are on the downloads page.

How the pages are made

Every page is a static file. No frameworks and no third-party scripts. The two fonts are served from tallge.com itself: JetBrains Mono for headings, labels and code, and Public Sans for text, both under the SIL Open Font License. The licence files are JetBrainsMono-OFL.txt and PublicSans-OFL.txt. The tool and reference pages declare a strict Content Security Policy in their own HTML: the browser loads nothing from another site for them, and their scripts may not make network requests at all. If a page ever tried, the browser would block it.

Corrections

Reference pages describe current mainstream behaviour: GNU tools on Linux, Vixie cron and cronie, JavaScript as implemented in current browsers, and HTTP as specified in RFC 9110 and RFC 9111. Where implementations differ, the page says which one it describes.
